Stars explained: * A production of no real merit with failings in all areas. ** A production showing evidence of not enough time or effort, or even talent, and which never breathes any real life into the piece – or a show lumbered with a terrible script. *** A good enjoyable show which might have some small flaws but has largely achieved what it set out to do.**** An excellent show which shows a great deal of work and stage craft with no noticeable or major flaws.***** A four star show which has found that extra bit of magic which lifts theatre to another plane.

We are currently changing the way we store and present reviews on Behind The Arras.

Each affiliate review will now be afforded an individual page which will make it easier for either printing out the review or saving the complete page as web page - if  that means as much to you as as Martian bus time-tables then  just ignore that bit and stop after printing out.

The location of each of these individual affiliate review pages will remain the same with the same web address so they can be used on links on websites, emails etc without fear that the page will be moved at a later date.

Links to current reviews will continue to be listed on the index page for approximately two weeks  as before but affiliate reviews will also be available at any time either through an A-Z index by title or an index of affiliate reviews which will list reviews of productions under each affiliate society or group. The system should act as both a directory and an archive. The month and year of each review is also indicated.

This will make it much easier to find reviews of a particular production or productions by a particular society.

We are currently in the process of transferring past reviews on to the new system so please bear with us while this is completed. A similar system is also being introduced for professional productions.
