The Chicago Blues Brothers

Malvern Theatres

****

Jake and Elwood high kneed their sold out Cruisin’ for a Bluesin' Tour to a packed out Malvern Theatres last night with tonnes of soul, a plethora of energy and plenty of lovin’.

Chris Hindle as Joliet Jake Blues, is not only the lead singer but the producer as well and his years of experience in The Chicago Blues Brothers brings his gritty soul voice in perfect harmony with stage brother Gareth Davey, as Elwood Blues. Davey’s swagger and vocal range are a fitting accompaniment to his high-class harmonica vibrations.

The Blues Brothers movie first hit the screens in 1980 and the enthusiasm for its incredible soundtrack and genre of music sees a steady cult following donned with trilby hats, suits and dark glasses up and down the country as The Sweet Soul Sisters and the CBB Band help bring the grove to music capitals of the USA, taking on Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner and Diana Ross, which is no easy feat.

You can expect classic songs such as Everybody needs Somebody to Love, Jailhouse Rock and Stand by Your Man but there are plenty of surprises thrown in to make you Shout, Flip, flop and fly and Shake your Tail Feather.

So dig out your best white shirt and your dancing shoes and be prepared to twist the night away to the very best in Soul, Country, Rhythm and Blues and Motown but fear not there will be no dry white toast, filty mouths or bad attitudes.

The Cruisin’ For A Bluesin’ Tour continues across the UK with Blackpool Grand Theatre tonight February 19th then onto Stoke Victoria Hall on February 24th and Bradford St George’s Hall on February 25th, with tickets costing £30. For more information visit click HERE
